I am newbie in every way.
1st bike is the one I ride I now.
I took the MSF course to be prepared just in case I had to ride my husbands.
Fell in love with riding as soon as I balanced the first time. I didn't think I would ride that often, I was wrong. I am always looking for an excuse to ride.

I hope to learn somethings from the more experienced and I hope I can come to ya'll with questions when I have them.

Yeah, I read the warnings after I bought my bike.
But, I am careful. Thanks for the concern...It is appreciated.
I also spend a lot of time practicing.
I go to nonsense places that have different types of roads, traffic conditions, twists (not bad ones though) and I practice.
With that said. I have been on a couple of rides and each one only makes me better.
I feel more and more comfortable on my bike. My only issue so far has been the curves and I am now doing really good at looking through my turn. THAT was the hardest for me.
But I have asked people what they do and it helps.

I love people who ride, they are all generally so helpful.

It is a hot bike.
I am constantly getting compliments on it.
I've had people take a pic of it because it is so hot.
Other people on bikes pull up next to me to tell me how beautiful it is. I get compliments from people in cages to.
And all I can do is agree. It makes me feel a little conceited and a tad narcissistic. But then again, you don't ride a bike if you don't want people looking at you, right?
Seriously, I could be 450 and butt ugly and people would not notice, because my bike is so damned nice.
Luckily I only weigh half that...and I am not a full butt ugly... more like a left cheek :lol

Haven't seen the black in person yet. Blake has his 06 750 done in all black and it looks real nice.:cheers Just make sure to take things slow. It took me at least 3,500 miles to get comfortable with mine. Now i'm over 10,500 without a single scratch on it. Oh yeah and always make it a point to make sure the kickstand is all the way forward before you set the bike over so you don't drop it. Many people here have had their bike fall over.:cheers

Sounds like you are off to a good start. I always keep my foot right next to the kickstand and back the bike against my foot so I know it's all the way out. The track and the street are two different animals. You do get better with time though. Hell I almost got taken out on the freeway last nignt and my heartbeat didn't even change.:punk You're first few close calls will give you an instant shot of adrenaline.

I have to be, I bought a powerful beauty that I must respect.
I have only had one guy pull over into my lane thus far.
My problem are the people that like to tailgate. OR when I am at a red light and they feel that I need to be able to see the bugers in their nose...
I could do with a whole lot less of that. Sometimes I am not sure they are going to stop in time.

I usually try to ride slightly faster than traffic so i don't have someone right behind me. I know in MSF they tell you at a stop to stay in gear with the clutch in but i don't. There's only one place to go and that's into traffic. Not good. I do make it a point to watch my mirrors to make sure they stop plus I keep my foot on the brake so they can see the brakelight. The tail light is not very bright especially during the daytime.:cheers Time for some sleep. Goodnight.

a track day sounds alright, but the best thing i can suggest is doing a cornering and braking course if one is regularly held in an area near yourself. Similar to the whole keith code thing really, but with a focus on roadcraft instead of the track.

They have them on my side of the pond and they have classes of 20-24 people, plit into groups of 4-6 students per instructor. I am yet to do one (read: I need to do one), but from what i've heard they are good to do to learn new techniques and help break bad habits.

oh and welcome to riding, i hope you have many years of enjoyment out of it.

I have a couple courses I would like to take, but I have to wait for the money to come up. I just want to know my bike inside and out. So I will do all that I can...
I plan to ride for a long time. It has become my almost all encompassing past time.

It only has 1 door but we can fit 8 cars in there. We have 3 lifts and no AC. But it is close enough to the beach that it doesn't get too hot.:cheers

The shop is a huge square. We can work on 3-4 cars very comfortably. The beach is only 5 miles west of the shop. It doesn't get humid at all near the beach.

Not to blame someone for my own issues, but I was behind this dude that was real fast on the straight and then would stop on the curves...Well, I would end up running up on him each time, and it was causing me to stop in the turns...
I tried to fall behind and pace him, because I didn't want to try to fly pass him then stop on the curves...I also didn't want to pass him in the curve a)because I couldn't b)because i was afraid we would be dancing the whole time and I wasn't prepared for that...
Anyway, I was doing great until I got to the sharpest curve, and I just didn't look through it, and I saw dirt, and that was all I could see...I hit it, I almost kept my bike up...But then it just got to soft and I just relaxed and said here I go...It wasn't bad...I slid over the front of my bike. My shoulder is a little sore now and my left hip and knee are a little achy. I think that had to do more with the stress of Joshua...I think that stress aggrevated anything that I did...
Anyway, I just need to put my mirrors back on, replace a couple of screws and clean her up...Then I will be out and about again...
