Okay, so, I'm leaving Japan and moving to Alaska. My bike is for sale right now, do you guys think I should just keep it? I didn't think it would be worth it to take to Alaska because i didnt think I would ever have a chance to ride, due to the weather. But I was just reading another thread and it was making me wonder. So, what do you guys think? Keep it and ship it? How much do bikes cost in Alaska? Thanks in advance.
Where in Alaska? We were in Fairbanks for 3 years. Keep the bike, the summers are awesome. Just be careful of moose and other critters. There was a guy in 2000 that hit a a baby moose on his bike and got the crap beat out of him by the mother. She knocked him across 4 lanes of highway, pinned him against the barrier fence at Eielson and busted him up pretty good. His helmet saved his life.

jesus that's freaky. it's one thing to have to worry about hitting a moose, but to have to worry about it's mother kicking your ass? crazy!

Okay, so keep the bike huh? How many months is the riding season?
You will have a good 3 months; depends on how far north you are. I've got some friends up there that have said the winters haven't been so bad lately, hasn't started snowing until October. Plus....... you can't beat having daylight at 2am, so ride until you can't feel your ass any longer.
