: World's fastest grocery getter, my Gix 1k?
ZBoomer 09-21-2006, 08:22 PM Ok, I filled my steering damper with heavier oil today, and needed to try it out. Also needed to run to town to get something for dinner, so I killed two birds with one stone.
I took the Gixxer to the grocery store.
In the back pack is an 8-piece chicken meal for the wife and me, and a 6-pack of her favorite drink, Mt. Dew. Also a copy of the new Hot Rod mag, with the '09 Camaro on the cover.
I then carried a 6-pack of half-liter bottles of my crutch, diet coke, on the side. Who says the rear footpeg brackets aren't useful? heheh.
On the way home had a minor run in with some dude road-ragin, and had to take her up to 120, and everything stayed on fine, hahah.
I have to say, hanging the bag on the side like this worked excellent. I couldn't even tell it was there, nor the back pack which was held down with two bungees.
Check it out.
Gixxer2k4 09-21-2006, 08:48 PM i do the same thing i even go thru drive thrus on it, carrying the drinks a b*tch tho
IgNiTe600 09-21-2006, 08:49 PM lol. I thought i was the shit when i rode home with some Mcdonald's drive thru. you just put me to shame. good stuff
mikeb12 09-21-2006, 08:53 PM here it the drink trick. set drink on tank. let clutch out very smoothly without really accellerating. use left hand to hold drink and shift clutchless. slowing down is the real test. hold drink on tank until the last second and then grab the clutch. get home and wash coke off your balls because it gets sticky fast.
ZBoomer 09-21-2006, 09:25 PM Lol, I'm still trying to figure out the Coke trick. I go to Sonic drive-in all the time, and it pisses me off I have to get a smaller drink and finish it off. I want a way to carry my Route44 diet coke. :)

Glue a cup holder to the gas tank, problem fixed.. :cheers
matt_buckle 09-22-2006, 03:57 AM yeah thats a great idea you would never know the shoppings hanging there until it catches on your chain and your rear wheel locks up causing you to crash!!!! hmmmmm
OhSicksGix 09-22-2006, 12:00 PM now thats fast food!!!
sorry i know it was corny
wtchtwr 09-22-2006, 12:09 PM I am surprised the cokes didnt rip that bag...
RussZTT 09-22-2006, 12:15 PM Actually a friend of mines wife, she has a 86 Mustang automatic. It's her daily driver, takes her kids to school, goes to work, goes to the store etc.
Runs mid 9s in the 1/4:cheers
gsxrcon1K 09-22-2006, 12:48 PM lol, now I don't feel so bad when I pick up a combo. I usually switch hands back and forth alternating between clutch and brake trying to avoid any stops.
Lee383 09-22-2006, 01:44 PM your dog is like..."WTF??"

I guess anything's possible, but that would be pretty hard for it to do. The top of the chain where it was hanging has a guard, and it couldn't reach the bottom part. I think to lock it up something really wierd like an entire coke would have to get caught in there. Not very likely, but I'll take my chances.
I am surprised the cokes didnt rip that bag...
Double bagged. I was thinking the same thing. :cool
I took the top handles of the bag, went in through the center part of the hanger, then back around the hook on back. No way for it to come loose.
Like I said, I went 120mpg with it for a mile or two!

Post up pics of the inside of that bag closest to the swingarm. I want to see if there is any chain lube splatters on it. I am having a hard time believing that a six pack of sodas stayed there
Big Worm 09-22-2006, 04:07 PM i need to post a pic of my bike on wednesdays, come into work with a full size duffel back strapped to the tail with basketball, b ball shoes, set of shorts shirt and extra clothes for the ride home.

Dude, you have got to be kidding me. First, the bags are someplace in the trash. 2nd, my chain doesn't throw off lube, lol.
Of all the things to BS about, you call BS that I was able to hang a bag on the side like that? Come on. :hammer
Here's a closeup of the attachment point, that's the best I can do since I don't have any more pics. As I said I went in through the bracket, then back over the hook. No way it could come off without lifting the bag.
Also, before the inevitable "check out those chicken strips!" comment, I will go ahead and say those are new strips, just fried, heh. I've been quite a bit closer to the edge, but new strips build up over time and during my grocery trip I didn't exactly get to hit any twisties.
knocker 09-22-2006, 06:29 PM I used to work with this guy with only one arm. He lost his right arm in Nam. Anyway, he's a 18 wheel driver and it used to amaze me how he would shift those gears, drink a soda, smoke, and drive at the same time.
AdidasMan 09-23-2006, 01:29 PM nice!
but does the steering damper feel better? what weight oil did you use?
Suzuki Duke 09-23-2006, 02:11 PM I've dropped a few drinks that I picked up at drivethrus. If I get drivethru food I usually hang the bag on the mirror.
RussZTT 09-23-2006, 02:48 PM I stoped at the store to get some bread before. Just put it on my mirror :D
FamCortez1 09-23-2006, 06:42 PM get a cheap cup holder from wal-mart and buy the magnetic strips with the stick shit on the other side. Stick it to the bottom of the cup holder and BAM a nice cup holder. I dont know how well this would work tho. It seems to work fine for tank bags. LOL
Gsxrlesstxn 09-23-2006, 07:03 PM I do it all the time, I just find it hard to get that 3rd case of shiner to stay on my tank
Next time you could try a take-out and put it on another rear peg. I'm sure it will stay pretty warm there.:lol
Chillywater 09-24-2006, 12:04 AM lol. I thought i was the shit when i rode home with some Mcdonald's drive thru. you just put me to shame. good stuff
:lol i've done the same shit before
