Went for a little ride today and was all decked out in the leather suit, also had the mohawk on the helmet.

Well EVERY-damn-body was straing at me with the :wtf look on their face, most of all other riders. A couple kids were smiling/laughing.

I stopped by to see one guy who I met the other day to ride, but now have no desire to ride with him. I haven't actually seen him ride but he is a psycho. He just kept talking about how he was always dragging his knee at Deal's Gap (in jeans) and how great a rider he is. I said "I'm not impressed". What is it with people who talk about how great they are? He asked me what I was doing wearing all the leather and I said "riding". And he said something to the effect of:

"Screw that, I wouldn't wear leather because when you crash hard it burns into your skin." It was now my turn for the :wtf face.

I asked him where he heard this nonsense and he said he knew a guy that the EMS had to peel the leather off his skin after he crashed driving down the interstate (straight ass road too) at 130mph, I said "well that's better than having gravel scrubbed out". But there was no talking to him. (And his friend had just wrecked a GSXR anniversary edition that he "races" supposedly.)

I just wanted to go "you fucking idiot" but instead settled for "yeah that's why all the AMA guys wear leather".

I then proceeded to leave and swore to myself to get out of this town after I graduated. The beach is way too overrated. I'd rather be riding. Screw it. I can get a tan anywhere, the sound of the ocean is great and all but not worth the morons living here. I think maybe Raleigh/Cary would be a good change. Maybe I'll try for grad school at Chapel Hill.

Oh yeah here he is Mr. King of Deal's Gap himself. My favorite part is the tennis shoes and no gloves with the bad form. And I'm not trying to pick on him or single him or say that I'm a better rider. I KNOW I have a lot of problems in my riding. But the attitude in this town is so stupid and I wanted to give an example of someone who doesn't have an extended swing arm or a bunch of chrome.

Let me call the wahmbulance for you :crying

At least you've still got all those nice roads within striking distance. If you really want to hear people talking out their asses about bikes you can come hang out down here any time. That guy's nothing compared to what we get in these parts :wacko

Deal's Gap is 8 hours away from me Duke :crying The good roads aren't even near to being close since I don't know the backroads of places like Cary/Raleigh.

Damn, you've still got about a 12 hour head start on me. My dad is the one that's set geographically. He's got maybe a hundred yards of off-roading it from the barn to the road, then he's on the most amazing roads I've ever seen, and The Gap via The Skyway and back (with some runs) is about a 300 mile round trip. Then when the seasons aren't the best for riding up there, he's down here in Florida.

I think funds are the key lol.

Suzuki Duke

Funds help alot. We've got some tracks fairly close here, Homestead and Moroso less than 2 hours away and Jennings less than 8, but I'm still digging out of the hole financially, so I can't afford a track habit just yet.

I just have to keep busting ass at work, a couple pay raises and some overtime later, I should have no problems getting to some trackdays.

Are those shreds of fabric coming off his pants? LOL

Yup, the patella sure makes for a great knee slider in a pinch, just a little harder and more expensive to get replacement ones once they've worn down. :lol

Um imagine what would happen to your knee if you hit the manhole's lid. That would probably tear off your knee gap :eek :ohmy

I guess stupidity is contageous! :lol

Yeah, I get funny looks too when I ride for the same reason but I actually grown to enjoy it.

Lets see, I've been called:

- mad max
- a power ranger
- the trojan man (not sure I get this one)

But I'd be lying if I said I didnt enjoy the attention!

Heh.

Sorry babe, WI is a little too cold for my tastes. :(

As for the helmet here ya go. Ever since I have put the mohawk on I have gotten so much more attention :lol I think it makes me twice as visible just because people here have never seen one. Everytime I go out on the bike at least 5 people either say they like it, give me a thumbs up, a big smile etc etc. I was on campus the other day holding it waiting in line at the bagel shop (mmm bagels :drool ) and the girl behind me was on her phone telling her friend about "the girl I was telling you about with the mohawk is standing in front of me".

So you're gonna sit around the house all hot and sticky from porn-style sex until I leave for work. Wouldn't it be so much easier to just hop in the shower, catch a couple more orgasms then go to bed??? Must we do everything the hard way?

Mel, move over here :D The vast majority of riders here ride in full gear and almost everyone I know ride in full leathers ;)

Plus I've never ever seen a stretched sportbike outside one of the very few drag strips on this side of the Atlantic, we like to turn instead :D

I would say come to florida, but the only curves we have are at jennings, moroso, homestead and daytona. :(

That's why I don't ride street anymore and spend my money on the track...

And yeah, the tool's a poser.

what a douche

1)form?
2)visor?
3)draggin textiles????
4)tennis shoes?
5)bare hands?

i really have no words, although i am no stranger to these types of people. they tend to shut up after you've had to wait up for them for 15 minutes up the road.

The mohawk may be on the squidly side, but I think leathers cancel that out enough for it to just be awesome.

I hope the helmet makes an appearance in Red ARRRRRRR :punk

Yeah the mohawk is kinda goofy...but then again I am kinda goofy so it fits. I like to have fun on the bike and it's an extension of my personality :D I might play the squid from time to time.

I think the mohawk is great. Not squidy, just say something about who you are and your personality, which is what it should be about. I see it the same as personalizing your bike with whatever as long as it doesn't look like a squid machine :cheers
