What are you guys using for bar mounts? I'm building up an 01 600 and im up to the point of drilling my top triple clamp. I'm thinking about getting these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35587&item=2410325 967&rd=1) off an sv.
Heres my project.

The bars are just sitting there in the pic.

I just make mine out of ally but those should work. If they'll clear the forks, than use them. Make sure you have them welded after bolting them on, don't need the bars coming off mid stoppie/wheelie http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif

I am using Renthal Twin Wall bars that require the larger adapters. Mine were a off the shelf adapter (Fly brand) at my Dealer, cost 33.00. Had a Machine shop dirll the clamp and reinforce the backside to prevent bolt pull out.

Your might look at these calmps as well: Spiegler (http://www.spiegler.de/gb/More_Products/raising_the_bar.html)

Damn Spiegler makes some nice stuff. Too bad i'm poor. Hey Bones, how did they reinforce it, do you by any chance have any pics of the bottom? I'm thinking of welding a plate to the bottom and getting longer bolts.

We marked the triple for placement, then had the backside built up by tig welding. After welding we milled the top and bottom flat, then drilled through and bolted the adapters on using grade 8 hardware.I mat swap them out with Spiegler components later. but thes worked fine for two years until I decided to go back to clip-ons for a summer. Tehy were just to low for me with the other mods so I am going back to MX.

OK Maybe I'm just a crazy son-of-a-b***h, but why on earth are you all reinforcing the tripple tree area and putting grade 8 bolts on and stuff? The handle bars will fail long before the grade 8 bolts.
And if I'm in mid stoppie and the tripple tree breaks or the bolts pull out (how that could happen boggles my mind) the last thing I'm going to be caring about is that I had grade 8 bolts in the thing. Suzuki didn't find that grade 8 bolts were needed in the naked SV650. Millions of dollars in development would conclude if it was needed. Besides how many cases of this kind of thing happening have you heard about?
It sounds like a lot of extra work and money to reinforce that back side of the tripple tree. Look at the bottom side of an SV tripple. No crazy stuff going on there.
On my bike I'm going to blow a couple holes in the top tripple, drop the bolt/SV handlebar riser through and plop a washer on each one. Add a couple ny-lock nuts and forget about it. It'll be more than strong enough. It'll take a lot of force to bend, break, cause the bolt to fail, pull through or otherwise. The cause of that much force would have to be the result of an accident. The only thing I read that I might consider is having my buddy tig the riser to the tripple.
Of course I could be wrong. But it just seems like you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I used grade 8 because it costs no more than grade 5. As for why I reinforces the bottom it is because I did not want the welds on the top (and all the welding was free) and to add some strength as I too have heard of people having them pull out. If you drill though you should not have that problem just if you tap into the Alum. I could not put the clamp where I wanted that way.

I have SV risers and I was finally able to pick up my 750 SRAD Streefighter-to-be. When I got it home I found that the SV risers appear to be a little bit too short. So I will have to make or buy different risers. The high bars look like they will interfere with the adjusters on the tops of the forks. I will have to investigate other bar options, but it doesn't look very good at this point for the SV risers.
I may just have a fabricator friend of mine make me a pair of risers.

Anybody know what year SV clamps will work?
