Hey guys, I made the mistake of buying oil before doing proper research on the subject. I normally change my oil every couple of months, and I usually run Motul regular oil. This time around I decided to buy Amsoil full synthetic as they had it on sale at my local motorcycle shop. This is my first time buying a full synthetic. I heard some horror stories of how some synthetics actually ruined the clutch, while other people sing the praises of a full synthetic.
So my question is has anyone tried using Amsoil full synthetic? If so what were the results (ie: enconter any clutch problems) or was it business as usual?
Feed back is appreciated...Thanks people.

If you go with fully syntetic you are going to want to make sure its specifies that its ok for a wet clutch system. A regular fully synthetic oil CAN wreak havok on the transmission, but most synthetic motorcycle oils I've seen at my local shop boast that it works just fine for wet clutches. I run Ams Oil in mine, works just fine.

No worries.
I've run full synth Amsoil and Repsol in my bike, and both ran flawlessly. No clutch issues at all. In fact I noticed a decidedly smoother shifting with the Amsoil.
The only thing that casues problem with motorcycle wet clutches is oils that are labelled "energy conserving". They have friction modifiers (minerals and other additives) that don't play nice with wet clutches. Pretty much any motorcycle specific oil takes this into consideration and leaves those kinds of additives out. Amsoil is one of the best full synth oils out there ;)

Running Amsoil oil is not only a good idea its the best! Full syn. (after break in) is the good thing to do, and Amsoil is the only way. It is specifically designed for overseas motorcycle engines and is 100% wet clutch OK. ZERO friction modifiers. Im assuming your using, 10w-40 Amsoil Synthetic motorcycle oil:cheers

i know one person who used it in his race bike (2K6 GSX-R1K). although, i'm not completely sure if it was the motorcycle specific oil with out friction modifiers. anyways, he was having clutch problems when launching.
he went back to Motul.
i haven't used Amsoil in my bike yet either...
