I'm getting an sv650s pretty soon, and I've heard that the front forks are soft. If they are, what do you guys recommend as a replacement?

Depends on your weight and/or riding style. A lot of people get good results just changing the fork oil to a thicker one, but if you're heavy and/or ride hard you might want some progressive, harder springs, like Race Tech or Öhlins. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif

This is my first bike, so I probably won't be riding very hard, and I weigh 160.
So... just a thicker fluid then, what weight?

20W should do nicely. Also, check out the tips at SV Rider (http://www.svrider.com/tips/tips.htm) http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

You can go to www.racetech.com (http://www.racetech.com) and do their custom setup and they will tell you what type of springs, emulators, weight oil, etc. you will need. Or check out Traxxion's site.

I changed mine to 20wt yesterday and it made a huge difference..also put on a 99 Gixx 600 rear shock. I'm still going to put in some Race Tech springs soon though.
