Hey all, I'm new here but am in desperate help---here goes

I noticed lately that my '04 1000 was not quite running right. Just wasn't feeling her lately. We went out to Utah last weekend and my buddy rode it, brought it back and said it was running bad. Asked if I had a power commander on it, said yes, we pulled it and it ran a better. I washed her up today and was doing a good look over since this is bothering me. I pulled the airbox and wanted to check the plugs. Plugs look good but while I was in there I noticed two issues.

1. I open up the butterflys in the throotle bodies, looked down in there deep like and saw that there is all kinds of shit built up on the valves down in the head. Mind you the bike has 3500 miles on it.

2. There is a hose that goes from the back of the lower block to the back of the airbox. In the airbox there is a foam piece right above where this hose enters. I pulled it out and there was oil on the bottom of it and compatment for it. The rest of the airbox is clean.

What is on the bike is a K&N for now, a full Yosh TRS and had the PCIII mapped for that set-up. Not a custom map but one from Dynojet's site. Anyone got ideas as to what is going on and what should be done to fix/clean it up in there? I'm hoping nobody says the head has to come out and sent out but if so, I can get it off at the house and take it somewhere.

Thanks!

That part in the airbox is doing its job, that foam mesh is to prevent raw oil from just shooting everywhere, think of it as PCV (postitive crankcase ventilation) on a car, its just an emissions thing.

As for the gunk, yeah your intake valves are going to be dirty. Especially with the oil mixing in, they always build up gunk.

Try using techron by Chevron to help break some of that stuff up. Its just carbon deposits/build up.
