when using the rear brake in a wheelie do you;

A) apply it as soon as you go up
B) apply it the whole time you're riding to maintain speed
C) only use it at times to slow down

never used it b4 so i am curious as to how to use it. i usually just ride 2nd gear out and come down but i want to go as far as i can. i seen someone say he rode his for about 2 miles. i'm riding about 1/4 of a mile. :hammer

thanks in advance.

If your running out of gear your doin a power wheelie. If you want to lengthen your wheelies you need to find your balance point where you can hold the throttle steady and maintain a constant speed, usually arround 55-65mph for myself. Use the rear brake lightly(If you lock up the back tire just pray for yourself in the short time you have left) at times needed if it's going past the balance point if you want to keep it up, otherwise let off the throttle but this will most likely set the bike down which is better than looping. Most use the rear brake for slow first gear 12 o'clock wheelies in which you start braking before you come to balance point.

Whatever happend to riding the twisties and really learning how to ride?:scratch

thanks. as far as twisties....not many around here. the roads we do have, have alot of traffic on them. i think that's more dangerous than wheelies. trying to pass cars in blind curves isn't smart.

currently i just tap tap tap but when learning i would (1st gear) place little pressure on rear brake then clutch up around 15mph, now that my foot is already on it i could use it. For some reason i couldnt use it fast enough after clutching it up . But once you learn, you only use it to catch it near BP then modulate it to keep you up.

Why do people say stuff when they have no idea?? If you start braking b4 balance point you go back down. We brake after balance point dude. This holds the bike between BP and over BP.

thus slowing the bike down and looking sick as far as height ;)
