this question may sound like it answers itself but is clutching the bike up in 2nd gear bad for the slipper clutch the bike comes with? Like is it gonna kill it? Anyone know offhand how much a new clutch is in case it needs to be replaced?

I think a new clutch doesnt cost that much but you have a slipper clutch which does cost alot

damage must occur. it is a violent act, but that's what we pay for.

i doubt it. on my last bike i clutched it up religiously (prob once for every 15 miles) for over 9k miles. never had a clutch problem. this isnt a car. not much weight the clutch has to work with...

it will damage it if you dont know how to wheelie it properly. If your slipping it alot, and constantly trying to wheelie while your bike is already heated at every stop light, then it will burn it. Just keep your wheelies farther apart like if your learning do them just a couple a night so you dont heat up the engine and risk burning your clutch as your slipping it. And for a new gixx 1000 there about 200-400 dollars, and the same for installation. But dont worry, installation is simple and can learn how to or have someone show you.

The slipper should not be a big deal. Adjust your worm gear and put it out of the equation. Then go ahead and beat on your clutch. It will take a beating while ya learn, but it should be OK unless your an idiot. Just remember its the throttle through the slip that matters. Don't rev high and dump. Rev and slip through it.

ANother thing ... unless you can go down the road and blip her up in a first gear power up, don't clutch it. Once ya learn sustained first gear power ups, clutching will be easy. Thats my opinion.

correct me if i'm wrong but the slipper clutch, from what ive read, is for downshifting to reduce wheel hop, it has nothing to do with slipping from too much torque.

I got over 10000km of clutch wheelies on my f4i... all lot riding and slow stunts, and slipping it doing circles.

I had my clutch cover off a few weeks ago and checked gthe friction plates and all of them were within spec, so I'd say if you know what you're doing you can clutch em up for a super long time before you need a new clutch

ya power wheelies look amazing... especially when they come up so fast the kid lays off the gas completely and the front end comes slamming to the ground... they look awesome
