: no more riding ..
Cruizer67 06-24-2006, 08:48 PM well on the 19th on my way to work a lady pulled out in front of me.. i was watching here the whole way was trying to see if she saw me.. the corner was wide open and i seen her before she got to the corner.. she slowed to a stop (hollywood style) looked right ..(i was coming from her left..) looked right and rolled though the stop sign... i had no stop sign.. so was rolling about 40-45 mph... i had about 50 feet to brace for the hit.. hit her car square on the driver door..sure she didn't see me until i was against her car... well not sure how i hit the car.. the hand controls on the left side of the bike as well as all the front plastics are wasted . i'm sure that i hit with my left sholder and then spun around and slamed my back against the car .. when i got up i was still on the bike.. i must not have let go...
i got up from the middle of the road and stumbled to the corner and called my wife.. found out i broke my left shoulder, right elbow, ribs on the right side, as well as a bone in my leg under my right knee...both knees are twistec, or strained MCL doctor said... and on top of it all.. i'm just real sore...
I'm pretty lucky... too blocks before the accident i stopped to strap my helmet cuz i forgot too when i left.. never hit my head and i hit the car head on....
I thank god for watching over me...
so as for the bike i may be parting it out.. the top of the bike is all thats messed up.. going to have to wait for the lawyers to see what's going to happen... decided no more riding for me... little girl just turned one .. want to see her get older..
well becareful out there you guys
EDGECRUSHER 06-24-2006, 09:21 PM Sorry to hear that. Hope you have a quick recovery! Maybe you can take up something like dirtbiking to get out your oats.

xDJxKLUSIVEx 06-24-2006, 09:34 PM damn bro sorry to hear about the wreck people pullin infront of me is my worst fear hope u recover fast
if you could let every1 else know on the forums what would u have done to avoid it just incase one of us runs into this situation
Street 06-24-2006, 09:42 PM Sorry to hear this. When i wrecked at Rt.66(the wall won) two years ago I thought the same. Couldnt put the feelings away. Take care of those injuries and let time take its course.
Mandra 06-24-2006, 10:10 PM Man that plain stinks. Hope your feeling better soon.
msthtd 06-25-2006, 12:52 PM good to see you're ok..just keep us posted
bcjohn 06-25-2006, 03:24 PM :cheers Truly sorry to hear your experience. I just have to give the other side of the coin however (balance?? I dunno...).
I was splattered significantly worse than your accident many, many years ago. I started riding again the moment it was physically possible. Actually, slightly before that...another story. My younger son is now 23 and my older one is turning 30 in November. I've never stopped riding and have loved watching my boys grow up. The two things are unrelated incidents really, but definitely within your right to choose.
If not riding, do try to keep something personally exciting (just for you) in your life. It so helps when dealing with all the other relationships in your life, ie you aren't leaving yourself out in the cold during the extremely challenging job of parenting/partnering/working...etc etc.
All the very best and I hope you heal up well. Obey your physios as though they speak from on high :) !!
86gixxxer 06-25-2006, 05:15 PM yeah, that really sucks. unfortunately, getting hurt is a reality of riding motorcycles (both road and dirt). inattentive/cluessless drivers can be just as bad as reckless/drunk drivers.
a good friend of mine would tell me that roadbikes were too dangerous and then he went out to his local motocross track, did not land a triple jump properly and is now paralyzed. so, any kind of riding is dangerous. i just broke a collar bone at a track because i high-sided.
do what you feel is right for you & good luck.
SNAKEYES 06-25-2006, 07:00 PM damn dude sorry to hear about that experience. it'll let you know whats really going on when that happens. when I wrecked 6 weeks ago, after the surgery the doctor said. " now if you get this wound infected it may be necessary to amputate your leg". I knew it was real. I had wounds real close to the bone they said it would be bad if it gets infection. I my dad told me you'll remember that pain every time you throw your leg over a bike from now on. believe me you will. get well quick to be strong for that little girl. Like me I'm sure you'd like to see her graduate some day.

Cruizer67 06-26-2006, 02:17 PM well guys .. thanks for the well wishes...
I do believe that i couldn't have been much safer... you just hope that the other person looks your way.. what could I have done to get avoid or lessen the damage.? that's not easy to say.. as i started to slide into the car from 50 feet away i looked for an out.. i believe i took the best one. i could have tried to go in front of the car .. but if the bike bogged cuz it was cold then I'm caught in front and she's pushing.. could have hit her front fender... but then risk going over the car bike landing on me .. hit the door.. stopped like a rock.. dropped to the ground.. hurt but alive.. it's all i was hoping for.. amd for going 40 into the side of a car i'm in pretty good shape
Mind you and as i explained to my wife...i'm not afraid to ride....get back on the horse.. horse (bike) doesn't scare me.. old people that don't see well..or people paying little attention .. they worry me.
SO all you guys out there becareful
xDJxKLUSIVEx 06-26-2006, 11:40 PM dont worry u will be back to normal and in ur garage fixin the bike in no time :-) by n e chance do u have n e pics of the car or bike/
Cruizer67 06-27-2006, 12:42 PM i do just have to load them up.. might be tomorrow as sitting to lonmg in the chair is uncomfortable
Depending on whast happens with the insurance decides if I get the bike back. what i do with it then is something else might replace all the broke parts and then sell....
Cruizer67 06-27-2006, 01:28 PM try this link to see photos of the bike

Street 06-27-2006, 03:52 PM OUCH! Glad you're ok.
Cruizer67 06-27-2006, 04:32 PM headlight still works Tach still works.. upset my wife and rolled out in the wheel chair and started the bike.. I just had to see if it would run.. started on second try.. overall the frame and forks and all are in good shape.. As I said i think my body took most of the hit to the car.
msthtd 06-27-2006, 07:23 PM take your time and recover first..she'll be there waiting for your return
Cruizer67 06-28-2006, 09:55 AM i've decided not to keep the bike... either going to sell as is or fix it and then sell... if not then pull the motor and stick it in a dune buggy..
mani reason for not riding again (at least for a while) is my wife's nerves are a little shot when it comes to bikes now., I don't want her to be stressing when I ride ..as it is she's a naturul worrier...
So I'll keep everyone posted as to the fate of the bike.
94gixxerod 06-28-2006, 10:21 AM Nasty happening and I can see why your wife is upset. Time to heal. Street riding can wait for you for as long as your alive.

Good to hear that you will be alright, just like healing, everything needs time, don't put riding out for good, listen to bcjohn, it may just take her a bit of time as well.
