Alright, oil loss problem solved, now it's time to get my carburation better. I have the main right on I'm pretty sure. WOT feels good!
Pipe is still getting black.
OK. The symptom occurs when I am maintaining speed holding the throttle steady at just cracked open (begining). I get a morse code annoying almost rattling sound coming from the carbs that only goes away when I open the throttle more and begin accellerating. Under acceleration the engine clears out and feels good. The noise is so distracting I find it hard to just cruise along especially at slower speeds.

Idle seems even and is set at 900-100rpms but accelleration from a stop is a bit slow untill maybe 3K.

Any suggestions?

Edge, according to Factory Pro , part throttle - cruise from 3K-9K is :fuel level & pilot jet size...

If you want, i can mail you my float height tool... do not need it anymore...
Its a freebie... PM your addy & its gone to ya!

#1 Does not cost money: you got a 750, so should put float height at 15mm or with your probs, maybe 14 mm...(I think I remember seing pods...)
Then

This has to be of some help...

Atleast he'll be able to toss it in a normal letter envelope.

I checked the floats too the other night and they were a bit low so I raised them all to 15mm. Seems there isn't much room for adjustment on these floats. Also thought my fl-needles were worn but they are the rubber tipped style and hard to tell. Looked fine to me anyways.

It's not really running erraticly just a bit off. And only while maintaining speed with the throttle just barely turned on. I don't feel like messing with idle mixture screws because the idle is smooth at 1000 rpm. I think the needle is set a bit high, but I'm just not sure how much effect this will have on this prob. However, I'm usually cruising at either the 5Krpm or 7Krpm range(needle). Idle jets shouldn't need to be changed so I'm not going there.

What I don't really understand is; they say idle is 0-3K, needle is 3k-7-8K, and main is 8k-up. At the same time they say 0-1/8 throttle is idle mixture, 1/8-3/4 is on the needle, and wot is main.
But what if your having a prob while in the midrange of rpms yet 0-1/8 throttle? That's two different cicuits!

Yea in these carbs they designed overlap so there wouldn't be a drastic switch from one circuit to the other,
so 3k-6kish would use idle circuit and midrange, same thing goes for midrange/wot around 9k. Thats one reason they tell you to tune from wot down to idle.
otherwise at this overlap you cannot distinquish which one is causing issues. If mid is perfect and idle is good, and overlap sucks idle is probably a tad lean.
Your morsecode issue could just be the slides rattling /worn out a little.

Glad I read that, Dave. This could help. I am just confused as to why I'm still getting a black pipe. Do you think it's because I have a rich circuit trying to compensate for a lean PJ? Maybe my needle?

when you say black pipe your talking about the carbon buildup inside around the tip etc?
hell mines black lol never had a bike that wasn't.. seems to run fine though.
