stuck with GSXR600 K7 without ignition key

Hey everyone,
We are a bunch of engineering students out to build a race car. So we bought a GSXR600 K7 engine on ebay. The engine belongs to a californian crashed bike. We have the ECU box, but the owner never gave us the key. Later, we heard about the immobiliser, but can't figure out whether it is at all present in the ECU.
Since the engine was imported separetely, we don't know anyone who can officialy help us out. Can we use the ECU to fire up the engine? Or should we confirm the presence of immobiliser from an official tech- support guy? heck, we are muddled up right now!! any advice would be appreciated!!

I font think Cali models have the immobilizer. I have DIY stickied at the top of this forum to bypass the ignition switch. It's on the second page of the thread. Pm me if u need help with it.

I don't think any US models have the immobilizer.

A locksmith can cut a key for you if you take the lock to them or have the key code and key type or blank to give them.

I'm having the stock Ignition Lock and the coded key, I am just curious if the immobilizer will work. I physically received my ECU purchase from Ebay which I believed is a US ECU.
Can anyone do me a favor to post a diagram on how to bypass my immobilizer system? bike is GSXR600 K7.
thanks in advance

Re: stuck with GSXR600 K7 without ignition key

I think you are going to need a good auto electrician.

You need the service manual wiring diagrams to start with.

On the diagram for the non-immobiliser the ignition switch block has extra wire marked O/Y. I guess this may be the resistor sense wire that is used to prevent a hot wire theft. You need to check your switch block to see if the resistor is incorporated.

There is no O/Y on the immobiliser model. The immobiliser has 4 extra wires which may need to be open circuited from the ECU as the non-immobiliser ECU may look at them and not function if they are there. 1 of the 4 wires on the immobilser may be a resistor wire but use a different colour (unlikely).

This is all guess work looking at the two wring diagrams. I haven't done it before.

Re: stuck with GSXR600 K7 without ignition key

Yamaha on some models reverse the cylinder fuel and ignition connections to frustrate the issue.
