remote starter

i found a guy that works in Best Buy and is capable of installing remote starters on bikes. he has a 02 gixxer 600 with the remote start and it was pretty awesome.

my question is, will it interfere with the bike in any way since the bike performs an engine check when the key is inserted. with the remote start, it just bypass and start right up

thanks

Re: remote starter

most people say to wait, but i honestly don't feel it's going to cause any type of damage. As long as you let it go through the testing most of the time with the key, it should be fine.

On another note, why in the hell would you want that?

Re: remote starter

1. NEVER let anyone who works at Best Buy work on your shit....EVER.

2. WTF is the point of this? There are many better ways to spend your money, but
I'm sure the folks at Starbucks will be impressed.

Re: remote starter

Lol.. The stupidest mod to do to your bike. Haha.btw when you turn the key to the on position. The following takes place... your set valve is tested.. If u disconnected it then no worries.. Your fuel pump primes!!! That's why there is no need for a choke on our bikes. The only reason you should get remote start is if #1 one of your hands got cut off and you can't hold the clutch in and press the starter at the same time. #2 if you're a squid. #3 if you work at best buy.

Do a trackday.. ride smooth & within your ability, work on one specific thing each lap, and gradually grow & up the pace.

Re: remote starter

i undo best buy installs, HAHA some of the stuff they do is a joke.
and IMO its pretty lame to have a remote start on a bike

and if you install it right, it will do the compete start up sequence with out the key,
i rather just install a 2 way paging system on the bike, and call it a day.

Re: remote starter

Remote start on a bike. That is nuts. So you can start it from across the parking lot and watch someone simply hop on and steal it. No thanks a key works just fine for me.

Re: remote starter

I don't think it would ever get used if i had one. Probably a useless way to spend money

Re: remote starter

My truck came from the factory with a remote start and i love it. I can heat/cool the vehicle while i sit inside or walk through the parking lot. But the truck is still locked and the transmission is disabled.

Remote start on a bike is the stupidest fucking idea i have heard in at least 3-4 weeks.

Re: remote starter

its almost as dumb as putting one on in a manual transmission equipped car, i had another tech tell me they had a customer that wanted it really bad. so he signed all the wavers and they put it on, he later came back with the car all fucked up, he forgot hi started the car and it kept turning over till it died. it kept crashing into the wall in front, LOL

Re: remote starter

I think u could make it work by letting the bike go through the start-up procedure, but how ya gonna pull the clutch in from inside the house? I've heard disabling the clutch portion of the startup robs a bunch of HP making the bike essentially run in a 'N' map

I know how to install one on a bike but I would never install one on my own bike.
