Yeah, if you can get a hold of the cable somehow and pull on it, it will unlock. You need a long skinny needle nose, or alligator clips

Get a popper device like on a trunk. Boom keyless entry.

Feb 2016 and I wanna say thanks for this too! Took off the rear end, reassembled, got all of it correct but forgot to reconnect the cable release. Duh. Thanks for the tips.
