i run/walk a combo of at least 4 miles every day now, sometimes 8-10 (mostly walking). I wear briefs style underwear and have tried thin and thick pants, but both still cause my thighs and balls to rub. I wouldn't post about this if it didn't cause me discomfort and i know other people have had to of gone through this. All joking aside, what do you suggest?
A good Set of Boxer Briefs will help to stop it from happening when you work out. try out the Spandex kind. Baby powder or even Corn Starch helps with the pain once you have it (I use to be a mover, walking ALL day on hot days, and having to work the next day was no picnic!!)
Other than this, like SVS said Some Vaseline will help as well
As far as the chafing in your crotch, some compression shorts or shorts with a built in liner like running short style will help with the ball chafing. The thighs will still rub, so vaseline, or better yet, bodyglide to stop the friction. I used to use vaseline, but now I use bodyglide for my long runs. It comes in a stick and goes on like deoderant. www.bodyglide.com Your local running store should have it.
I use vaseline like others have said on long runs.
I find that tracksters rub my bollocks something chronic after long periods - a decent fitting pair of lined football (soccer) shorts or running shorts with nothing under them seem to be the best bet for not rubbing - but if Im out for more than 20 miles I will still use a bit of vaseline.
vaseline can be good at stoping your nipples rubbing against your tshirt to on long runs to.
apparantly lycra cycling shorts dont rub at all, but they look gayer than gay and there is no way I would wear a pair of those things whilst running.
It can be very embarrassing buying big jars of vaseline though it has to be said.
