I say take it to a professional. From this post alone, I really think you're in over your head already.
Do you know the answer to what it should feel like when turning the crankshaft adjuster bolt to TDC??
I have common sense and I am pretty good with my hands, this is my first bike that I bought as a project and have been fixing up from the ground up. I just need to know where the problem is and an idea of how to fix it and I can do it.
I decided to work on it because I bought it and it came with a bad engine, the pistons were bad, so I bought a used engine from a mr.motorcycle in texas. (the engine that I am asking about). it was suppose to be guaranteed to run and work.
I did the swap, plugged it all up correctly and all electrical worked, no FI codes. fixed the clutch, new plugs, new oil, checked compression (all good 150psi throughout all cyl). turns on the first time easily but doesn't idle well (don't remember if knocking was present, i was just happy it turned on). i wait a day and fix the idle.
another day goes by and when i go to turn it on it is hard to catch, but when the Engine does turn on after many trys it runs real rich: popping at the exhaust, dark smoke, carbon accumulated on the spark plugs and a weird knocking from the center of the engine.
for the last two days, it doesn't turn on at all. just cranks. pcv map is at a zero map. exhaust pops are louder. too much unused fuel.
started working on it because i have been fixing her up. it has compression, and spark. fuel seems to be the faulty factor. as for the knocking, i have no idea, hoping its not worn crankshaft bearings or a broken connector rod.
