Re: c28

im fairly new to this forumn but i have similar problems. My display reads c28, so i took off my stva. if i apply direct power to it, the motor works so i know the motor is fine. But im reading alot about bad solder connections...they look fine to me. I can hook the stve up to the bike, turn the key, and it'll adjust itself 3 times and the problem is gone. Success!!! but as soon as i turn the key off, then turn it back on, the stva will adjust itself only 2 time this time and the c28 is back on display. I AM LOST

Yeah, well... I guess if you let your membership expire, it royally fucks up your account. I can recieve or send PMs. Hell, I can't even view the forums as TheGeek...I'm waiting on an admin (for 4 days now) to get me straightened out. Until then, here I am....

Re: c28

Ok,
thanks to the group effort of the_geek, cajan, and my buddy here I got the c28 code (STVA) fixed at no charge! So, I was getting the c28 and saw my STVA was stickin. I did some research and found that my options were buy new throttle bodies (as they dont sell the STVA separately) for $999 from the stealership....fuck that. Second, I could buy a used a STVA and hope it doesnt have the problem....not the best idea. My last option was to take it apart and resolder the bad/loose connections. I went with the third option. I took the STVA off and analyzed it and send it off with my boy that works on airplane simulators. He has the tools to replace the rivets and he can solder well. I sent it with him and got it back the next day and threw it back on the bike.......NO MORE FI LIGHT....sweet!! No more code and I was happy, but something just wasnt right. The idle and the lowend power seemed to be off a bit, but it ran. I did some more research and the_geek explained that the screws on the butterflys need to be facing UP when the STVA was reseated. So, a quick jobbie to take the STVA off and set the butterflys right and we are back in business. So, many thanks again to cajan, the_geek, and my boy John.

Thanks all,

Pete
