Anyone ever use an infrared heater? Too late, I already ordered one for the garage. I wonder if they work as well as they say?

Does that mean you're gonna do it?

I understand infrared heaters only heat surfaces, not the actual air?

But then I guess the surfaces heat the air through convection, like how radiators work. I figure the temperature wants to equalize.

Might as well. I don't trust my abilities enough to properly prep these parts going back in and re-assemble everything properly for race purposes.

Re: Northeast Trackwhores: 7 month thread v3

anybody know how much a refresh for a motor would run? just approximate price. the bike currently has 15k miles on it, 3k-5k of which are on track, rest street. Figured if I get needs a refresh

tried emailing Markbilt a few days ago, but yet to hear back. I imagine their swamped.

Re: Northeast Trackwhores: 7 month thread v3

Go on Ronayers.com and price it out

You'll need new valves, springs, cotters, retainers, seals, pistons, rings, big and small end bearings, gaskets.

Also labor to prep the cylinders and valve seats etc.

In other words, not cheap.

Re: Northeast Trackwhores: 7 month thread v3

Ew. Yeah looking to be approx $2k. Not cheap is right

When SHOULD a motor be rebuilt for track use? What signs should I be looking for? Is it based on mileage, burning through oil, drop in performance, or what? BTW Im googling this as well

Re: Northeast Trackwhores: 7 month thread v3

A lot of times you'll be better off looking for a low mileage street motor on eGay or something and just swapping them out. Then you could try parting out useable bits from your old motor or keep them for spares.

Kaz, I would suggest looking for someone else to do your motor. There are much better shops capable of doing it. For some things I would trust him, for a motor I would not.
