Australia road trip

Hey guys, travelling down from the north of Australia (cairns) to the south (melbourne).

Thought I'd post up some pictures as I go. Let's hope I don't hit any kangaroos

Wow that's a massive ride man ... I'd be a cripple if I 'attempted' it !!!

So many great roads and scenery along the east coast ... I'm jealous

Dude, great adventure. How many hours a day can you handle the GSXR before cramping up?

Well so far in 2 days I've done 1,100km. After I get to 4 or 5 hours it starts to get a little painful. I just make sure to move around on the bike and pull over every 100kms or so and stretch. I just love the feeling of going across the country and feel motivated. Plus it's nice to be on a bike with good handling and plenty of power.

Re: Australia road trip

Long day today but finally made it to the beach. Had to come down a road into town that's notorious for kamikaze kangaroos. Just made it as it went dark.

Re: Australia road trip

Your not taking the coast road then. So, where abouts are you at currently?

I'm in Agnes water/1770 for a day or two to do some surfing. I've been going the Inland route and plan to keep going the Inland way. Way too many cops and traffic coming down the coast.

I like the feeling of being in the bush...can scream and yell and do whatever makes ya feel good .

Re: Australia road trip

Just watch out for police in NSW. It's double demerit points until after ANZAC Day.

Yeh, I've considered skipping NSW all together. Worst state for revenue raising cops IMO. I got pulled over one time for almost speeding, wtf does that mean?

Re: Australia road trip

So I left from Agnes waters today and made my way inland and down to Brisbane. Was a super nice ride. I saw two sport bikes out for a ride on a road I was on and decided to follow because I thought they would be going to a nice riad. Surely enough I followed them and hit a nice 20km stretch of twisted to a dam. Turns out to be a couple on an fz1 and a buel of some sorts

The rest of the way was actually pretty curvy which was good for my sanity and my tyres. Good ride, but painful after a few hours.

I lived in Melbourne for 13 years growing up . I was on my way out to do the black spurs on my ninja 300 after riding for a few months.

Was taking a back road through farm country. The speed went from 100 to 60 coming over a hill for no good reason. I was just cruising along and didn't want to jump on the brakes.

Sure enough there was a cop on the other side of the hill with his radar gun. Clocked me at 111kmh in a 60. Pulled in to the middle of the road. My first ever exprience with police on the road. $1000 fine, 12 month suspension, 1 month impound and a safety awareness course which went for 4 hours for $800!!!

I couldn't believe it! So devostating. Now I'm always looking for cops and am pretty good at predicting and spotting them these days.
