Id prob wrap once then hook on. Would take slightly longer but should eliminate the bounce off effect. And if you get the right type of hook it shouldnt bounce off in the event off a fall, especially if the pegs have a stop on the ends

I disagree. The effort it would take to double lanyard that far makes it less safe than just climbing

And osha agrees with me

and OSHA is ALWAYS in the right.....

Granted Id prob start out double clipped thinking its safer, but eventually get tired of it and go free. LOL. It def is a pain in the ass and no argument here that it wears you out much quicker. Just talking safety in the event of a fall. Chances of a fall are super slim though. Usually have to be dicking off or in very bad weather for anything to go wrong as long as you're watching your hand/foot placement.

I jump from 1200 ft... it's awesome looking out the door of a C-17/UH-60/C-130/C-212 etc. from that height... airborne!

I used to build cranes for a living that went on jack-up boats that worked out in the gulf and later on for jack-ups that went over to Dubai (sp) and any giving time the crows best was 80-100ft off the deck of the boat and then the boats could have an air gap from 1-200ft off the water. I wasn't nervous at all climbing to any point on the crane. But leanin over at the top of the crows best and peering over the side of the boat with a 200 ft air gap gave me butterflies every time.

Worst experience with that is when one of the legs punched thru the "hard" mud bottom (we only had about a 15ft air gap) and it kinked the other two legs and the whole boat fell to the water. Luckily it was at night an we were all in our bunks

I think that someone who doesn't get butterflies when they're looking off the edge of something several hundred or thousand feet high is it's natural. Thing that separates people is whether they like those butterflies or not...

I don't.. Not looking over/down. Not even a little.

Only time I ever do is making odd transitions (im often hanging under something supported by only my harness for example) or during bad weather... wind rain etc. And then is not really nervous just more caucious.

With a normal civilian canopy.... sure.

Round military canopy? Fuck you. Landing is way too hard. Not scared just would rather not lol.

Re: I'm not scared of heights but......

LOL crash-10 yes it sucks, you're hitting the ground at about 24 fps. They always say at airborne school "it's like jumping off a two story building." I didn't believe em till I worked out the math for myself... they weren't lying, you're going about that fast when you free fall from a two story building. Theoretically anyhow...

MC-6 on the other hand... closer to civilian canopy, it's a directional chute with about 8 kts of forward movement, you can head into the wind and flare for landing... relatively soft.

Not that I would EVER throw shit off the tower

Id just make it a point not to park the work truck close to the tower.

Hey and I didnt say I would be throwing off little shit. But I know there is only so much you can carry up with you. Wait, you guys carry whole welding equipment up there, fuck that. A whole tv and old vcr is possible to take up.
