Helpfull info please....

Hey all, just thought I would try to get some info and maybe a few tips. First off I have been riding for 25 years but mostly cruisers old triumph and harleys. Been at the dragstrip around cars for quite a while.

My daughter is racing jr. Dragsters and I have been playing with my HD on the track for fun. Recently I came across a 1998 gsxr in pretty good shape, seems to run strong and was a good price so I picked it up.

First race weekend coming up soon and I guess I was wondering what times people are posting in the 1/4 and what to aom for as the season goes on and I get used to the bike.

So far all I have done to it is lower it. What mods have helped you get the best results and most importantly what helps you keep that front end down?

I'm gonna assume your bike is stock wheelbase,so you'll want it as low as possible but not too low;if the swingarm is less than parallel to the ground and is angled slightly downward you're too low. Make sure the front is lowered evenly with the rear.

Set your the compression on the rear shock for maximum squat, and the rebound set to rise slowly on launch.

On a SWB bike, the 330' is more important than the 60'. Concentrate on launching smooth, and dropping the 330'. You ET will drop considerably.

A 600/750 can be launched pretty hard without wheelying as there isn't too much torque to fight.

Run as close to 30-34 psi in your rear tire as you can without traction issues.

Pick a gearing combo that will allow you to go through the traps at the top of a gear. That'll take some time to get the right combo.

Always use Suzuki OEM clutch plates.

I'm leaving out quite a bit,but that'll get ya started

Yes still stock wheelbase, qas going to see how it goes then extend the swingarm later. I want to do everything in stages to see the results of each mod. I will check out the setting on that shock. Thanks for the help!
