Anyone on here thinking about riding Eagles Canyon Raceway on June 4/5th? I know it's right after TWS on memorial day, but still a fun track. 2.5 miles 11 turns and about 95ft in elevation change. If I can get the 750 finished I will be out there for at least Sunday.
Isn't that a members only event? I know a lot of racers will be out there. One works at cycle gear and has become a friend of mine. He invited me yesterday when I was picking a couple of things up. I hope to see you out there :cheers
I'm in the midst of tearing mine down. Just removed all of the fairings anticipating my armour bodies to come in on Thursday. About to drop the headers to put my MJS system on, drained the coolant so I can flush it and use water wetter instead, and finally change out my stock brake lines for the speiglers I ordered a while back. I'm glad I started today instead of Friday...
Where do you live? I'm up in the Keller area. The 4/5th is a RideSmart event. I will be out there if I can get everything in and back together. Lots of garage therapy after work going on for me.
I would say branch out and ride a new track. You could always ride TWS Saturday and ECR Sunday, or vice versa. If I could swing the time off work I would do that. Saturdays off in my line of work are few and far between, saving that for possibly going to COTA in July.
Not sure which one I will hit up, thinking most of my buddies are going to ECR. Main reason is one of them trashed his leathers and will need to rent some through ridesmart. I would like to hit up TWS, would have to leave saturday night and camp out or way early sunday morning. It's a long run to get there and back when I will be flying solo. I try not to do that just in case something happens. RideSmart does more events then LSTD.
Tell him not to expect much from their leathers, I would know :biggrin
It's a pretty long haul. I didn't realize how much closer the Houston tracks were.
Ridesmart does many more track days and aren't as race oriented as LSTD. They also have different styles they teach. I've spoken to two people in the past week that ride with LSTD and regularly go to Harris Hill Raceway who will never go through Ridesmart again for a few reasons.
Regardless, it is still a great way to become introduced to the track.
I've done both and don't have a preference either way. I found out last night that the track day up at ECR is $65 a day. As much as I would like to ride TWS one last time it's hard to pass up that deal. If you are looking for a race oriented deal, Ty Howard with LSTD or Jim Dugger both do private instruction. Seat time will help you more then anything right now regardless of the track you are on. Right now it looks like I will be at ECR just because I can run both days for the price of one. If that changes I will post up, just a long haul when I'm rolling solo. If my wife agrees to come along maybe I will make the trip.
65/day is nothing to pass up on! H2R isn't that great of a track, but to get more seat time without having to book hotels and stay overnight anywhere, that's going to be my best bet. I'm still going to venture out to the rest of the tracks in TX before this year ends.
Man you're about 5-10 minutes depending on lights north of me. If you ever get bored roll on down. If you need a extra set of hands with the bike hit me up.
Anyone go to ECR this weekend? Finally back in the hotel room from TWS. It was dry for most of the day but we had a couple of showers. By the last session it started flooding.
I had a small high side in the rain on T4 but recovered and took it off the track. I continued on to finish an additional lap unscathed. First time riding the track in the rain. It was both stressful and rewarding. I ran my Q3s on warmers all day and they performed perfectly. Plenty of rear slides to get a good feel for the traction available. Biggest problem were puddles and tar snakes. Not many people came out to ride today, only a total of 25-30 for the entire organization.
Really enjoyed riding with Lonestar Track Days. I prefer them over Ridesmart after having ridden with both. LSTD seems to be a tight knit community and is certainly more competition based than its' counter part. Made several new friends there... Very helpful people!
Nope, still waiting on chain, sprockets and new body work. Are you still coming up on the 13th to ride Cresson? I should have at least my drive line in and use my old body work.. I will have to hit up LSTD in the future, I don't really care who puts it on, just want on the track. I haven't heard from anyone that went to ECR today, I know it was a nice day up here, no rain.
