What brand race bodywork?

I know cheap and quality don't go together in the same sentence, but I need some cheap, decent quality bodywork for my bike. If you have a recent experience with Aritech or Hotbodies let me know what you think. Sharkskinz also makes bodywork for my bike and I have a few pieces that I think are great but I dont want to pay Sharkskinz prices for bodywork. AirTech and Hotbodies are very close in price.

Out of the two you posted, hands down the Hotbodies.

What about Optimal?

Okay. Their site is still up.
I read a little on WERA and it seems Hotbodies is the better deal here.

Yeah, if they don't have it now, or had it in the past.......I wouldn't plan on bodywork for a 10 year old bike to be "coming soon"

Armour Bodies
http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=4916

I have learned that bodywork is like alot of things, you get what you pay for. I am on the same set of AB that has been crashed on 3 times. Minor repairs, repaint and looks like new.

I have used it on several different bikes and never had any issues with fitment.

Re: What brand race bodywork?

I used Airtech on my 01 750 racebike, crashed at least 5-6 times with them and they held up well....Used Hotbodies on my 02 cbr 954, crashed several times with those as well, they held up OK but honestly I liked the Airtech bodywork better....It also depends on the crash too . I had Sharkskinz on my first racebike in 01 and honestly there wasn't much difference in damage after crashing, like I said I guess it all depends on the way the bike rolls after the fall. If the Hotbodies are cheaper get them.

I have the armour bodies as well. I haven't crash tested it yet, KNOCK ON WOOD!!! It went on with zero issues. But it was expensive.

It is much cheaper than Sharkskinz and IMO just as good.

Re: What brand race bodywork?

I had the hotbodies bodywork on my K2 1000 track bike. It worked, but the fiberglass was cheap quality and it definitely wouldn't win any beauty contests. It required extensive repairs after my crash as well...which is expected after a crash I suppose. But a couple of mounting areas tore because it's super thin fiberglass with no re-inforcements at the mounting points. Honestly, I'd place it on par with the Chinese stuff on ebay. Maybe they've gotten better at it, but the bodywork I got from them was just sub par.

I did buy a Armour Bodies Superbike tail for it and the build quality of that piece was a million times better than the Hot Bodies stuff. The mounting points are Kevlar reinforced, the mounting points lined up like they were supposed to, and I didn't have to do any prep work to paint it. Scuffed it and sprayed it.

Sorry I have no experience with the AirTech stuff. But if you can afford Armour Bodies, go with that. I think it's like $500 for the Hot Bodies and $630 for the Armour Bodies at their best prices. Definitely worth the $130.

I have some Sharskinz bodywork that came with my ZX-10R, it doesn't appear to be any better than the Hot Bodies stuff... but that's a different bike and different molds.

Question Re: What brand race bodywork?

WTF!!!!! When I was looking for race plastics in 08/09, they weren't this damn expensive. Armour bodies was going around maybe 600 to 650. I could have sworn that Sharkskins were in the 500 dollar range. Now they are damn near 900 bucks...WTF!!!??? I got a deal on the set I got for 550. Shit I am glad I got my race plastics when I had the money. Cause now I would be rocking the BLUE PAINTERS TAPE with these damn prices. Or try to find a used set somewhere. GOOD luck Tom....ouch!!!
