I'm debating building my SRAD 600 into a streetfighter/stunter looking bike (I don't stunt, just like the look)
I don't want to go like all crazy with the subframe/tail section, I rather like the stock back end, and HUGE seats on these old girls. big thick seats=COMFORT for me.
Really I'm just looking for ideas or advice on how I can design the bike.
If you want custom, it's up to you. Also, just because a seat is thick does not automatically mean it's comfortable. I've had bikes with thicker seats than the GSXR that were less comfortable.
You can drill and renforce the stock top clamp for proper bars. I was going to convert my srad in to a naked bike ie stock tail and fit a sv round headlight and dirt bars and remount the stock clocks but my motor blow so the bike was sold
i know the stunter and fighter look are two different things. I'm kind of trying to blend two ideas into one. and I know thick seats aren't always comfortable, though mine is definitely not a crappy sheet of plywood, or a rock, which is what matters to me.
dirt bars are a good idea, being I love the upright ride a LOT, it's way more comfortable than being hunched over like most modern bikes are.
its like art man , no 2 are the same and it all reflects on the artists personality :
so get out and chop away till your happy not anyone else,
good luck with the build bro
trying to blend them whilst keep the stock seat and a lot of the components minus dirt bike bars.. is very close if not just turning it into a shitter bike imo.
bars, new clocks, monster seat, no visible wiring, nice headlight,.. etc etc.. that would be a decent start imo.. no expsosed subframes, or shitty acerbis headlights etc.
from that.. newer suspension, brakes, lighter components.. swingarms, etc etc.
Absolutely, I do NOT like exposed wiring, or subframes if I can help it. thus leaving the stock tail as it is, I think a good 06+ front fork set, clean headlight, and some tucked wiring would look pretty cool. I mean really, the acerbis Cyclops is a cool light, don't get me wrong, but it's just not right for this app. Looks great on a DRZ though.
Long before you started liking GSX-Rs I used to be able to fit a chick's purse or even a styro foam dinner plate in the back off my Gixxer. 'Twas nice on some occassions not having to carry a book bag. :biggrin
Yup, storage compartments are great. My ZRX could fit my gloves with zero issue, or an In-N-Out to-go bag with two double-doubles and a thing of fries, and still have room left. My GSXR? Zip-ties
I have saddlebags for my SV, mainly because I carry stuff home from the office regularly, or I use the SV to buy groceries. if I pick up girls, having a place for her handbag is nice.
picking up girls with a SV with saddle bage is a cardinal sin here in ireland and you can get something like 400 hail marys and 350 our fathers in pennance if the local cock sucking prist gets a look at that, man up bro, stick the frozen food down your jocks and the dog food up ur jacket :hammer
