Bike setup for mods?

I was wondering the other day, why don't they sell sports bike ready to modify in a easier way?

For example
- Having a gearing adjustment in the computer, so you don't need a speedo healer
- Having a ECU with a wide band O2 sensor that's self adjusting so you can just swap the exhaust without having to buy a Power Command?
- More adjustment on the computer on the bike for things like engine braking, PAIR value on/off etc..

etc...

Federal/National/International regulations covering the systems on the bike would be the biggest issue with that. I agree with you that it would be awesome, but especially pollution regs would kill that.

Because most of the modifications we do are illegal for the streets, where most of these bikes are ridden, and it does not make financial sense for manufacturers to make a street version and a track version of each bike. You should be happy that it's as easy as it is. Companies like Dodge have their ECUs on lockdown and you need an expensive piggy-back system to run modifications.

Cost < Profit from added sales...at least in their reckoning

Yes...it would simply cost more for them to produce such bikes and of course said costs would later be passed down to us, the end users. Do we really need these bikes costing anymore than they do already?
