Same here, sometimes I switch it up & steer with my feet for a while.

Re: Numb hands/forearms - need advice

Its odd ive never expierenced my hands go numb like this. Ive got the cheapy cushy grips on my bike and ive rode for hours at a time with no issues. sure my hand will sort get tingly from the vibes after a while but never to the point where id call them "numb" where i cant feel them.

Re: Numb hands/forearms - need advice

@ OP

In general I'd say there is an underlying problem for people who's hands / forearms are going numb. There are a couple of things you can look into depending on your symptoms.

Ever wake up with weak / numb hands or arms? Do they go numb while on the phone or perhaps while resting your arm on a flat surface (counter top, desk, rolled down car window)?

These are all signs of thoracic outlet syndrome, carpel tunnel, ulnar nerve entrapment, or medial nerve damage - possibly a combination of more than one.

If left untreated it can cause permanent damage to those nerves. You may want to get checked out by your doctor if symptoms persist.

Taboo

Same thing happens to me but im thinking its posture related. gotta position your hands on the grips so that you wont end up with carpal tunnel.

Saw thing would happen to me. I realized I was too tense. Relax a little. I was doing the death grip and it was killing me. And while riding if you get the chance pull one hand off and open it up. Get some blood flowing into it.

Re: Numb hands/forearms - need advice

U need to build up endurance in ur arms. Try riding until it hurts then lay on ur tank to let ur arms rest for a little then go back to regular riding

Re: Numb hands/forearms - need advice

Stomp pads on the sides if your tank can help grip the tank better if you're not wearing leathers. Can buy them online for about $50. Let your legs and back do the work.

Now I've got this 2001 gixxer and the real forward-sitting position isn't helping me much. My hands were going numb after about 45 mins but that was with trying my hardest not to put any weight forward onto my hands. Now I know I can get better with this, but still... do other people have this problem, and when does it usually kick in? Just seems like I've just left home and already my arms are starting to not feel 100%.
Let me know if anyone has any advice/tips on how to battle the numbness.

my forearms and my hands do it to but they ahve been doing it way before i got my bike. my wrists have been swelling up since ive been able to work. constant use or straining caused it the doctors said. and i get it when i ride for a while too.the only thing thats ever helped me was the copper infused gloves

Alright look, it is poor forum etiquette to revive dead and forgotten threads just 'cause or to offer advice to someone who has not been here since 07-2001 as in Johnny Rad.
