Re: Boredz V49 - Canucks optional :P

Crap just washed the bike and when I was done noticed the rear wheel was turning in first gear with the clutch pulled in while on. So I took it off the stands stood next to the bike with it in first and reved it and it barely started creeping forward.

So I wonder how much longer I have on the clutch . Also anyone know off the top of their heads what an oem clutch runs on average?

Also how many miles are expected out of a clutch I am nearing 20k which seems like a healthy life considering I don't drag and don't do wheelies

Okay I will give that a go...I have kept it in adjustment at the lever its got the right amount of play in the cable via the service manual . But I will start over as and do it as in the service manual

Yea. The cable can be perfect but if the pressure plate adjuster is out it won't disebgage right

One more question joe that my bike has done since day 1 and I never was concerned about it but if I have the bike on the stands and in neutral and rev it and keep the revs up the rear wheel will spin and I can get it up to about 4mph why is that?

okay that makes me feel better I did some searching and seems like it is probably out of adjustment hopefully. Given the mileage and that I don't stunt, drag, or wheelie it should be plenty healthy

Totally normal. Since it is a wet clutch the oil is actually still causing the bike to transfer power to the transmission, but the clutch plates aren't actually engaged. There is just enough friction occuring to barely spin the wheel.

Okay now with the clutch pulled in if I press the rear brake then release the tire doesn't move but if I rev it it does normal correct? Just oil drag still or need more adjusting?

Also now when standing next to the bike it doesn't move unless I am revving near 14k+ and it barely moves at all still adjust it more or call it good?

I'm not an expert, but I would say you have it within spec.

Re: Boredz V49 - Canucks optional :P

If you are reving at 14k with the clutch pulled in a little drag is normal.. Heck.. In neutral mine drags at about 7 mph on the stand..and even with the oil nice and warm if I stop the tire on the stand it has enough pull to start itself going again.

As long as your clutch is fully engaging (no clutch slip at wot under load with clutch fully let out while moving) and disengaging (not trying to pull you around at 3000 rpm with clutch pulled in) you are fine. Just do exactly what the manual says and take it for a test ride. You will be able to tell if it needs adjusting.

Normal. Stop reving the shit out of your bike with no load on it . It is not good for it.
