Can't ride new bike

Hey all,

I just financed a 2007 GSXR 1000 after not riding since 2011 due to a bad accident on my ZX10R. But to save money i figured riding a bike again would of been a good idea.

However, over the last few weeks I've been having some health issues. One of them being that my legs have been extremely swollen. So swollen that i can't even get my feet up on the pegs to ride properly.

I'm on a medication that doesn't seem to be helping so aside from trying to sell the bike, is there anything i could do to lower the pegs atleast an inch in the mean time?

Re: Can't ride new bike

Unfortunately, I don't know of any other way to lower the pegs besides what the stock foot pegs offer. Another option is trading it in for a more comfortable motorcycle

I'm real sorry to hear about your health my friend. Welcome to the forum

Sounds like an upright bike might just be the answer for you. And they have more than enough power to get you into trouble.

Then how do you know you wouldn't enjoy anything else? I'd go test ride some if you really want to be on two wheels. You might find something else you like even more, you never know.

Don't knock it until you try it. Modern standard bikes have all the hand-me-downs of the Supersports packaged in a way that makes them more comfortable. Which means you will have absolutely no trouble in twisties or outright acceleration. And they are tuned to make more torque, so they're even more of hooligan bikes. Especially something downright ridiculous, like the Suzuki B-King.

I just watched a video of a B-King. Looks pretty awesome. The only crappy part is that i'm kind of stuck with this bike now.

Re: Can't ride new bike

Take a look at these. They're made by ValterMoto for the K5/K6 to move the pegs up and back. But they can be reversed to lower them. I think that variants were being sold on ebay. However the basic idea is simple enough that they can be custom fabricated out of 1/4"-3/8" aluminum. Just watch out that you don't lower so much as to start dragging the pegs. An inch sounds doable.

Re: Can't ride new bike

If I remember correctly, I removed 1 bolt and rotated the peg assembly down about 1 inch, leaves only 1 bole holding the peg but has worked well for me with well over 90000kms of riding. can take a pic tomorrow if ya want to have a look..

Re: Can't ride new bike

Be sure to use some type of thread locker such as loctite, especially if you only have one bolt holding them on.

Yamaha FZ1 is a cracking bike, and comfortable too - I had one as a courtesy bike on my last service. It's still got 140 BHP so more than enough for some fun!

You know, I keep looking at that bike. I have yet to hear anything bad about it! For someone looking for SS performance in a rider friendly package, I'd put my money on that one. I can't seem to make up my mind between another GSXR600, the FZ1, or a new 300 to track
