I saw a picture of a 2003 1000 that has a hayabusa front fender on it...I think it looks great, anyone know what year
hayabusa fender will bolt on a 2001 Model ???
You have to make some simple brackets for the upper mounts. In your case, it really won't matter if you go Gen 1 or 2 Hayabusa. Its a fairly common mod for LSR GSXR's.
Its actually more work going the other way, and trying to fit a GSXR fender on to a Busa.
Beairsto Racing...Thanks for the reply...I am out of the country now, so I am not in front of my bike...
I see one screw hole in the busa fender that might line up with the lower screw hole on the GSXR forks... So I need to make a bracket for the upper attachment point on the fork leg... do I need to drill a hole in the busa fender to attach it to the fork leg?? What about the aft attachment point don't use it??? (2001 GSXR-1000 has 3 attachment points on each fork leg)
So it does not matter which generation fender I order...do they all (Gen 1 & 2) attach the same way?? I am going to order a carbon fiber Busa fender.
This is not a bolt on project. There is some fabrication involved, I consider it minor...I don't know what your skill set is...but judging from your bikes, you're probably handy.
The fork leg fender mounts are in different positions on the GSXR, compared to the Hayabusa. You can make adaptor brackets, the Schnitz link gives you an idea. Some guys are ok with only running 4 of the 6 fasteners, and run high speeds. Others have cut fork brackets off, repositioned them where needed and tig welded them back on.
I would certainly hold off on ordering a carbon fiber fender until you are able to physically compare the 2, and see if this is really something that you want to do.
Cheers,
Scott
