Wake up and realize that anything purchased from china will be substandard.

Connecting Rods are the first thing I would skimp on since they are a pretty insignificant part of an engine.

Not so!, they can make parts as good as any one- Aston martin have cranks made for the V12 in china, ( the factory is just down the road, I have friends who build the cars there ).
Having said that, they do make crap as well.
A lot of good parts available these days are made over there, sellers don't shout about it, because of ill informed views like what you have come out with!

If you've already decided they are good, why ask?

I'll stick with Carrillo,Crower,Manley or Cosworth thank you. I could have sworn that Aston martin cylinder heads, blocks and cranks are forged and assembled Cologne, Germany since 2004.

Re: Con Rods made by Maxspeedingrods

I've stated that china makes crap & good stuff, these may be good, or bad- hence the question.
Aston - its 100% fact!
I would like some Carrillo / Crower etc rods, but we pay twice the price that you do!
Some thing to bare in mind, china has hugh cash reserves to invest with- more than any other country, & a lot of the factorys over there are new with first class equipment.
For example,I purchased a AC/Dc tig set 200amp, china made, a lot of people say they are rubbish, 3 years later & a lot of use its still working great!.
The same kit can be purchased here( Uk & europe), for four times the cost, coverd in Europe made stickers, but look closely & yes, made in china!

It's also about experience and reputation.

http://www.cp-carrillo.com/Tech/RodT...fault.aspx#hpr

Did a Google search and could not find much on the Con rods that you are asking about. Only that most people know that they are Carrillo copies.

Yes, I had little success on finding info' on the bike versions- car rods, people say they work well.
I would not risk destroying my motor on any unproven part, that's for sure!
As to, Carrillo rods, yum yum!!!!!!

Re: Con Rods made by Maxspeedingrods

I keep seeing these rods on ebay and wonder at the quality, earlier they were described as made in Australia, and i could never find out by who or where and passed it off as a fake addy , Lately in talking with a guy i know he mentioned his mate was making con rods and selling them on the net, good machinist, quality materials and good rod bolts,
, are they the same ones ???? and how do they compare to Carrillo , again ????
in the end if someone uses these and truely floggs them and not just riding to the local cafe for sunday coffee , please report ...

I'd like to see cheap titanium rods that don't snap like dried twigs.

Re: Con Rods made by Maxspeedingrods

I personally feel that just because something is made in a certain location doesnt automatically make it BAD. I mean it could be manufactured in China by an extremely skilled machinist on the latest CNC with the best materials. They just dont charge so much for them and still make a good profit. be interesting to see the rods go to a lab to be stress tested and see what the outcomes were. I would think you could request a copy of results as i would think they had been done by the manufacturer as part of production. Couldnt hurt to ask!
