That tank doesn't look like mine. You sure it's a factory race tank?

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

the kit ERO endurance tanks i have seen from the SRAD era had the dual dry-breaks area reinforced with a welded in thick aluminum plate with support posts welded inside the tank to keep the tank from collapsing when using the fuel cans,,still not sure this tank is even for a SRAD,,might be for a 2000-2003...

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

I've never seen tank mounts like that. The fuel caps and blinds on factory tanks typically have a 9 bolt pattern. I've never seen a breather tube like that...

Would I have seen this either in the flesh or in a picture, the vent pipe really looks familiar to me......

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

I don't think they did that with the SRAD tanks. I think they just used Suzuki kit tanks. They stamped their logo into the early oil-cooled tanks, the Hayabusa tanks and the various tanks they made for the GSX-R1000 models.

I thought it may have been a K tank or TLR but the shape and indentations are SRAD, the pump too. Saying that about the pump. I did see a tank for sale from MotoGP Werks for a K series that used an SRAD pump and had an air tray set up for it. Just my guess, maybe this is designed for the airtray set up only. You'd better make him one Chris.

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

Thanks for all the feedback; I bought the tank in Germany. I had the fuel return hose connector added, since it came without. this is why I thought it was used on the carb version. Forks are from the k1 model and upper triple clamp was made in our workshop from billet aluminium.
You need to help me with some of your remarks: what does ero/xro stand for?

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

ero and xro are Suzuki kit racing parts. xro is full factory sbk these bikes cost in excess 250000 back in the day. ero is the next level down as I understand it

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

Back to my first question; any idea how / if I can make it fit? Can I modify the airbox?

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

It's hard to say, from several thousand miles away. We don't know where it's too tight, or by how much, etc. I would probably modify the interior of the tank, but them access to people that can shape metal is easy for me. I don't know what you have where you live.

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

Thats not a kit tank or suzuki made tank ,looks like a tank shop tank from scotland or before that he worked at harris for some time. You can tell by the bottom off the tank and how its been cut and shrunk, kit tanks are stamped bases and top.
You need to build yourself a tray to house those carbs there is easy ways to do this at home if need be.If you screw with the oem airbox then you will only lose power.
If you screw with the tank, you will screw a good tank.Because the alloy is so thin if you do try this you need to gas weld it not tig the metal is too thin.
If you could get hold off a ero airbox mabe you could cut that down put a seal around it and seal it with the tank (maybe).
Javadog is right no srad tank and logos stamped in the tanks, that came along later with the busa tank and are built by majic in japan not yosh (i think).

Re: Aluminium Fuel tank

while i agree with Chris that this is NOT a kit tank from suzuki,,,i do beleive you CAN TIG weld the tank if you wanted to modify it,,,allthough thin material,,,i have had my Kit tanks tig welded a few times,,BUT you need a damn good Tig man,,,not just some schmo who does the odd job at the farm repair place,,LOL..,,a fabrication place is a better bet...
