clutch nut

hi all
i have just replaced my friction plates and am having trouble torqueing the clutch nut..
i had some one on the bike holding back brake while in 1st gear with a lump
of wood through the back wheel..
The nut has gone on but i cant get it to 150nm the basket moves when i try to
give it some,any suggestions..
Also when i drained the oil there were a couple of little slithers of metal
on the sump nut ,anything to worry about

Where bout London? Download the service manual if you haven't already. That will show the way. Other than that good luck!

They (motion pro & suzuki themselves) make a tool to stead fast the basket while torquing the nut.
You can even use an old steel plate with a vice grip attached as a make-shift holding tool.
You can also back the nut off about 3/4ths of the way then zoom it on with an impactor while holding it with a rag or towel.
The nut gets peened on as well so between the 2 that should be sufficient.

its all done now just put it in 1st with wood through wheel got it torqued in the end..
put it all back together and hadnt put the thrust washer on .
then put it all back together went out to test ride and realised i hadnt centre punched the
clutch nut...

Forget to center punch that nut and you'll soon be hearing the "sounds of silence" as your clutch grenades and the engine locks up!

its ok i took it all apart and sorted it ....
i have learned alot about clutches today

FWIW, 1st gear is the wrong end to use. If you want to hold the clutch put the bike in 6th gear. It will work better.
