I was thinking...
Take an unbraced swing arm, weld a plate on top for the motor, mount it on pillow blocks via the pivot shaft, use the stock adjusters to keep the chain tight, make a screw type adjuster to raise/lower the rear and affix it all to a platform for a low cost, fairly simple bump starter.
You can work out the details but that basic configuration just came to mind.
I'm also wondering if a chain saw motor, with it's internal clutch & compact design, would be the ideal power plant?
