fuel pump questions..

so i think my fuel pump went out. i can't hear it kicking on. It seems to run fine after sitting for a while, but as soon as you ride it down the road it starts cutting out and bogging real bad and its just getting worse. I took the fuel pump out and hooked it straight to the battery to see if i could hear it and i couldn't, i knocked it around a little bit to see if i could knock some rust out to get it to move and it does a little. Does any one have a working fuel pump for sale? How much is a new one?

Re: fuel pump questions..

There's one on ebay right now! The auction ends in a few days. Item # is 320101222522. Or you could copy and paste this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...1222522&rd=1,1

I'll probablly get in trouble for this but I'm always up for saving a buck.
Babbitsonline.com has them for $310.00 new even though they're not a site sponser.

Re: fuel pump questions..

Hey thanks alot, but i soaked mine in gas over night and got it to free up and work ok. I am still having some stalling problems though, it seems to run totally fine until i try to get on it, and then it kinda bucks. I already replaced the battery, and cleaned the jets. What else could it be?

Re: fuel pump questions..

is there a bracket that holds the actual fuel pump to the whole assembly? If there is, i dont think i got mine back on before i put it back in the tank. Could the fuel pump be lifting up out of the rubber grommet and therefore not be feeding enough fuel. Sometimes the exhaust note seems to change when i am just cruising like it is wanting to cut out, and when i get on it it cuts out, but it doesn't do it every time. Do you think that could be the problem?

Re: fuel pump questions..

How much difference in fuel pressure is there in the FI and carb'd fuel pumps? I can find alot of 01 tanks with fuel pumps for pretty cheap and it looks like they would fit on the srad frame.. Also, i blocked off the ram air ducts and it completely quit cutting out. Do you think my fuel pump is just not pushing enough fuel pressure? I was thinking the ram air might have been pushing the fuel back out of the carbs if it was not supplying enough fuel pressure.
