Re: 1990 Lucky Strike Project Done!
The engine was solid with a good compression test, did a complete carb rebuild and tune up, powder coated the wheels, new rubber, brake rotors, pads, steel braided lines and reservoirs. Powder coated and wrapped the header as well as replaced gaskets. Powder coated the fairing brackets, kickstand, battery box and front sprocket cover, new chain, both sprockets, most electrical components including wiring and turn signals as well as the entire fuel system including POR-15 sealed fuel tank, new fuel cap, hoses, filter and petcock. New right and left controls with bar ends, new bulbs, fuses, clutch and throttle cable, K&S Air Filter, front fork rebuilt and polished, rear sets and linkage...combination of new components and powder coating, Yoshi pipe with custom fabricated mid pipe, fabricated rear brackets to eliminate rear peg mounts on both sides. All new OEM fasteners for the fairings, zero gravity shield, had a boat upholstery shop make a rear pad for the race tail, waited 3 months for the sticker package from Red Racing Parts in Italy, mounted and prepped all the panels including Larger fairing intakes (air grabbers), race tail and carb covers, then sent everything off to paint, including the mirrors. Another 3 months and $2,500 later it was done. I added black aluminum mesh to the fairing vents and put the bike together....I couldn't stop looking at it. It took me too long and cost too much but I love it.
