Re: 0 miles Limited Edition in Sweden

As the Limited is my favorite of the first gen bikes, it's a shame that owner never chose to ride it. Hopefully, it was stored properly.

I wonder what the story is behind the 2.3 miles showing on the odometer.

JR
The bike has been sitting in a shop/store here in sweden since new, imported from us 86. The owner now decide it was time to sell it. The 2,3 miles i dont really dont know, but i think is it proabebly from moving it around between two locations/stores a couple of times. Engine has never had oil in it, orgiginal battery not even filled whit acid yet.

Re: 0 miles Limited Edition in Sweden

I took a look at the documentation for one of my bikes from 1986 and it had 0.4 miles on it when it was delivered. Somewhere in the back of my mind, it seems like I've seen a video of the GSX-R assembly line, where each bike got started and run on rollers briefly, to make sure it ran and would change gears.

It's hard to say if a US dealer never serviced it when new. I once bought a new 2005 Anniversary edition 750 and didn't want it serviced or started, either. That was quite a fight and I'm not convinced that I won it. Now I'm fighting Suzuki, who wants me to bring it to them to change the front brake master cylinder and I keep refusing, as it is sitting in the home office of one of my kids. I keep telling them that they could just give me a new master cylinder and I'd swap it for them but that doesn't fit their mindset.

We remain at a stalemate.

I can't believe that is 12 years old already...

Re: 0 miles Limited Edition in Sweden

JD,
Same here.
I told them I would swap it out and they said no they had to do it or they couldn't warranty the work or parts.
So I took it in and even gave them the Motul 5.1 I was going to use in it.
Got the bike back with an untouched bottle of Motul 5.1 and still had to re-bleed the brakes myself as they were mushy.
Not real happy about it.
Then to top it off, got another recall letter the other day saying it hadn't been done yet so can I bring the bike in to have it done.
Tempted to swap in an old master I have from another set of brakes and have them swap that one out too.
Might still do that anyway.

Re: 0 miles Limited Edition in Sweden

Like I want a parts warranty on a 12 -year-old bike that never gets ridden... And, I'm far more talented than any of the guys working at the local dealership. I've met those guys...

I think they just can't think outside their normal routine. I'll keep throwing away their letters and yelling at them over the phone. Gives me something to do.

Re: 0 miles Limited Edition in Sweden

My '03 K1 came out of the crate and as they did the dealer prep at my local shop, I had them use my oil and wait to put it in until I arrived to take delivery. I was the first one to thumb the starter, which gave me great pleasure... even though they said the whole process was "against the rules". A case of Bud Light took care of the "rules".

Of course, an '03 K1 is nothing "special", but getting first "thumbing rights" on that start-up felt good anyway.
