Re: 1st Gen Japanese Market 750 Specs & Mods
Pete I don't have an answer for you because I have never measured the pistons and cylinder heads of the Australian and Jap models side by side but I have owned plenty of both models and never noticed any difference between them once the exhausts on the jappers were swapped out.
It is possible the figures are fudged and also just as possible the cylinders or blocks were surfaced on the jappers. I know the Aussie models have plenty, plenty of clearance in the combustion chambers as I went 80 thou (2mm) over in cam lift recently and had no drama with valves and pistons. If the jappers are 11:1 compression then awesome. It's the sort of thing a good builder would do anyway if they are doing a rebuild with half an idea. If you want to confirm it completely Pete, do a compression test on you 1985, that will soon tell you the truth as yours is pretty healthy.
