Just qurious what the top speed is for a stock 86 750. I've read 140-145. When I puchased mine I figured I'd get the cobwebs out and got her to 130 before the headshake started occuring. I went to a 91 750 wheel and figured I better check for headshake . I got up to 140 with no headshake and still had a bit left. I know speedo's are off the higher the speed. I was at about 9k-95k rpm. Should have the 91 frontend buttoned up tomorrow so maybe I'll check: squid

Re: 86 750 top speed?
I don't think the speedo's are very accurate up there. I used to routinely take mine up to 220KPH (135MPH) but had to ease it up anywhere from 180KPH and up to avoid the high speed weave. If I nailed it at 180KPH it would be all over the road. It's an 85 with the short twitchy wheebase.
The fastest I ever got it going was a long time ago on the straight stretch of the Squamish HWY (going up the big hill) and I'm pretty sure I saw the needle approach 240KPH (150MPH) but I wasn't really looking at the speedo. I just kept twisting the throttle until I figured I couldn't go any faster.
I've got Dyno sheets that show it going just under 150MPH so that's probably a pretty good indicator of a best case scenario.
