K5 GSXR 1000 Vs 2005 ZX10R?

I went riding with a friend with a zx10r Saturday and he was saying that his bike got better writeups than my gsxr 1000 did and it was better. Well, since he don't have a stock stabilizer like mine, a gear indicator like mine, plus I went faster on the straights and the twisters than he did/. I am not sure what wright ups he was talking about plus mine looks better.

I know the 06's zx10s are better than the 05s but 05 to 05 which bike really did win in all the shootouts?

Re: K5 GSXR 1000 Vs 2005 ZX10R?

I think one of the only sources that ranked the zx-10 higher than the Gixxer was Cycle World, and conveniently enough one of their testers was Doug Chandler the former Kawasaki factory pilot. About 90% of publications rated the Zook on top for 05.

Another statistic, about 90% of riders wouldn't be able to wring all the potential out of either of the bikes anyway, so take that information however you'd like.

Every magazine I read this year had the gixxer on top.

My question is how do you know if the 06 zx10 are better? Just b/c someone releases info with better hp numbers doesn't make the bike better. It may go faster in the straight but 1 or 2 hps extra umph doesn't make you the best. 06 king is still to be determined.

R1 LE, lots a money for those swedish suspenders makes a world of difference.

It'd better for the $7000 price hike. With that money I could take a stock Gixxer and make it utterly piss all over the R1 LE.

I don't for sure it is just what I heard. And I agree with you btw. Remember I am riding a gsxr.

Rode both, 2005 zx & K5, ZX good, fucking good, but K5 better. The ZX is very very flighty, which is what lets it down. K5 is as powerful, more midrange and more forgiving.

The new 06 ZX10 is supposed to address these problems, but its FUGLY!

Re: K5 GSXR 1000 Vs 2005 ZX10R?

Met a friend who owns a black ZX 10 last night, minus bike. He's been loyal to Kawasaki over the years and is a guy who takes good care of his bikes. He likes the K5, but I think he bought the ZX out of loyalty than anything else. Anyway, his near-new ZX 10 is back in the dealers because its ECU and three sensors aren't functioning. Dealer doesn't carry stock of spare sensors and he has to wait 8 weeks for factory OEM parts. Now, I never heard of K5s with similar problems. Saw a K6 with its RPM indicator permanently stuck at 3,000, but that has been about the worst of it (not counting crashed K5s though. LOL!).

No bike will eat another. It's all about the rider. Rossi wins on a Honda or a Yamaha.

+1
It doesn't matter what the mags say. Do you think you can beat everyone just because someone said your bike was "king".

Re: K5 GSXR 1000 Vs 2005 ZX10R?

hell i watched a 13 year old girl dominate guys on the track! she was on half the size bike they were too! her tail section says something along the lines of," you just got passed by a girl!" that would suck! its all rider!
my friend with an 04 r1 kept running his mouth about how his bike was faster and so we agreed we would ease it out of the hole and then get on it (this way the launch didnt determine who won) and i walked his ass. he's got a full micron system, custom map, and pc3. mine was stock!

NOW HERE THIS ATLANTA SYTLE ALL QUESTIONS ANSWERED !!!!!

I live in Atlanta, Ga I own an 05 gsxr 1K + My friend owns 05 ZX10 + other friend owns 05 R1 Ohlins forks, air stacks, slip on Two Brothers !

We are all equal riders ---- track days, well all run avg 9's on the strip and twisties we all leave darkies at will. So There all basis are covered.

the test: 3rd gear 80 mph roll on the zuk is in front, Oh I weigh 275 lbs so first time I was standard sprocket later that day 1 tooth down. No contest or lemme say this no room for an arguement the Zuk is stronger.

The guy who has the ZX10 is Kwack loyal he has a 05 1k too ! HE say "The zuk is a superior bike"

I look for a new thres soon my 05 1K will have
yosh head gasket Hi-comp
yosh cams
yosh hi-comp pistons
no decided which exhaust yet, Ak has a new one waiting on some more info its hex shaped its on the Akro-site

Just some FYI for you. Another member here was considering these same mods. They'll likely make the bike want race fuel on the regular and make it very difficult to ride on the street, so unless it's a dedicated track bike, I might look elsewhere first.

Re: K5 GSXR 1000 Vs 2005 ZX10R?

Hi,

ZX10R won Master Bike 2 years on the trot. Our local dealer said that sales of the ZX10 have been effected by the rubbish in the bike magazines. Mainly the ZX10 being unrideable, garbage. My brother bought one and loves the thing. He has also ridden my K6 and likes it but still thinks his ZX10 is best for him. My other brother just got himself an 06 R1 in yellow/black sweet looking bike. Sounds a little different to the 04 he had and he thinks it seems more gutsy low down. He has also ridden the K6 and likes it but I think he still likes his R1's. I don't think anyone bike is any better than another, it's down to the individual.

The new ZX10R is going to be quick very quick. 185hp with ram air. about 175hp without. That's around 10hp up on the best K5's, K6?. They are all fast so who cares.

Yes more than half the magazines i've read this year had a GSXR1k on the cover. It is the standard in which litre bikes are compared to, and try to live up to.

If you want to have fun with a ZX10 rider just do a roll on comparo with him in 2nd.
If the 10`s geraing is stock you will be able to cross his parth by the time you touch 3rd.
Last time I did I even paid the guy the coustesy of using my indicator when I crossed his path
